Patricia Margaret Arnot Leisey, wife of Donald Eugene Leisey,
and mother of Kristen Margaret Leisey Cauz and Kendra Marie
Leisey, and grandmother of Nicklaus Donald Cauz, Zackary
Ugo Cauz, Macallan Steven Cauz, and Jaelyn Imari Graves, was
born in Edinburgh, Scotland to David Blair Arnot and Margaret
Malcolm Wilson Arnot. David Blair Arnot was a member of the
British Colonial Service and assigned as Conservator of Forests
for one of the Malayan States. David, wife Margaret and
daughter, Patricia, lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaya prior to WW II.
When the Japanese invaded Malaya, immediately following the
invasion of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Pat's father
joined the Royal Air Force with the rank of Flying Officer.
He arranged for Patricia, his wife, Margaret, who was pregnant
with son, David to be evacuated to Hobart, Australia on the
island of Tasmania for safe keeping until the conclusion of the war.
Shortly after Patricia's father joined the RAF, he was reported
missing in action for five years. Toward the end of World War
II, Patricia, her mother, and brother, David traveled by ship to
England from Australia through the Suez Canal. In the Atlantic
Ocean their ship joined up with what became a ninety ship
convoy, which suffered German U-boat submarine attacks
before safely reaching Liverpool, England.
During a social function while living in Hobart, Patricia's mother
met an officer of the U.S. Merchant Marines, Phillip T. Meyers.
After Patricia, her brother and mother returned to Edinburgh,
Scotland, her mother, Margaret and Phillip communicated by
mail and subsequently got married. Patricia, brother David,
and her mother moved to Newport Beach, CA where Phillip
Meyers was a restauranteur.
According to the passenger list of the S.S. Washington, Pat's
mother, Margaret (age 31 yrs. 9 mos., born in Edinburg, Scotland),
brother, David (age 3 yrs. 9 mos., born in Hobart, Australia) and
Patricia (age 7 yrs. 8 mos., born in Edinburg, Scotland) arrived in
New York from Southhampton, England on May 16, 1946.
Patricia, her mother and brother, David, then took a train across
the USA from New York to California to join Pat's step-father,
Phillip T. Meyers.
Patricia attended college in Santa Barbara and held various office
positions before moving to Illinois. While living in Illinois, she
wanted to travel and decided to become a flight attendant
with Trans World Airlines (TWA). After training in Kansas City,
she was assigned to Los Angeles for a year and then transferred
to New York City where she met her husband to be, Donald E.
Leisey. Pat and Don married in Wakkanai, Japan on the island of
Hokkaido in November 1964, where Don was serving as a school
principal with the U.S. Department of Defense Dependent Schools
at the Wakkanai Air Station.
Besides being a grandmother of four children, she continues to be
involved in various local charity groups - this year (2009) will be Pat's
third term as president for the Golden Gate Clipped Wings, a
philanthropic and social group of retired flight attendants for TWA;
Marin Charitable, an organization that raises funds for needy youth
in Marin County, California; and Hospice of Marin, a new endeavor
for her which she is currently working on fundrasing for the
annual Hospice Ball.
